Don Prior has had four consulting positions in West Africa in the last ten years. Nigeria,
Lagos: Don Prior supervised the Mobil Oil offshore wellsite geologists'
team assisting to develop the offshore fields off the state of Akwa Ibom
and Delta State. Nigeria, Warri/Port Harcourt: Don Prior was the base Coordinator (General Manager) for the Nicotes Services' operations out of the Nigerian Port Authority's facility in Warri. He was responsible for the port facilities, warehousing for offshore oil companies, distribution and transportation of material for the offshore oil industry, Nigeria, Lagos, Abuja and Benin: Don Prior has twice taken North American senior management teams to Nigeria to meet with international companies, indigenous companies and the Government of Nigeria in regards to investment opportunities. This has included review of many exploration opportunities and data review at NDPC's offices in Benin. These review teams also met with the minister of Finance and his staff in Abuja. Gabon: Don Prior was the Operations Manager for Chauvco Resources in Libreville Gabon. He was responsible for the development of the Remboue field on the Remboue River south of Libreville.
During this time he supervised the drilling of thirteen wells, the testing program for the field, the installation of an early production facility, the construction of a tank farm and gathering system, the construction of a river barge loading terminal, supervised the drilling of shallow stratigraphic core bores with diamond drills, the shipping of crude from the field loading terminal to river barges to an anchored offshore tanker, the scheduling, maintenance and personnel for the river barges, Don Prior had extensive contacts with the Director General of Hydrocarbons department in Libreville. This included operations reports, production meetings, drilling meetings, construction meetings, financial meetings for operations budgets, marine terminal reports, tanker reports, etc.
Don Prior was the company representative on the joint venture with Santa Fe in the drilling of the offshore Mondah Bay project from the Pride Drilling drilling barge. The first well was unsuccessful and the block was not tested again by the joint venture partners.
Don Prior has recently assisted PanAfrican Energy (Pan-Ocean Energy) in their re-vitalization of the Remboue field. The field has been idle since mid 1998. PanAfrican obtained the rights to the field from the Government of Gabon in 2000. They are now in the process of establishing production again for the first time in three years. Don Prior is designing the marine transportation system which will include barge transportation down the Remboue River to a small coastal tanker which will make a monthly voyage offshore to an existing FSO. This is an ongoing project that will be more fully defined as it progresses.
