He set up the geological operations for the drilling of the initial well on the La Vertiente field in Chaco Department of Bolivia. The success of the initial well led to the development of the area by drilling seven more wells and laying a connecting gas line to the YPFB line to Argentina. Initial production of the 2.5 TCF reserve field was severely limited by the line to Argentina and the sales proration determined by YPFB. Subsequent construction of the large diameter gas line to Brazil has allowed increased production from the area. Additional seismic was run in the area which led to the drilling and discovery of the Taiquati Field, the Los Suris Field, the Escondido Field and the La Vertiente South Field in the Chaco Department.
