Sedco H off Newfoundland
Don Prior started his oil industry career in Calgary after completing seven years in the Royal Canadian Navy. He first worked for Mobil Oil in Alberta and Saskatchewan and was subsequently transferred to the new Mobil Oil office in Nova Scotia to supervise the geological operations for the Sable Island Prospect. The success of this field led to the drilling of many offshore wells which resulted in the Cohasset, Terra Nova, Bonaventure, etc. fields off Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Don Prior arrived in San Antonio from Bolivia with Tesoro Petroleum. He prospected in South Texas and then became a partner in Petropool Inc. Over the next seven years he supervised the Exploration and Production Departments of Petropool in drilling new prospects and developing successful prospects in Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Louisiana. He also supervised wells in the Texas coastal waters and in the Gulf of Mexico.

Don Prior became a senior consultant and in that capacity was Exploration Manager for Sandia Oil and Gas (drilling projects in South Texas), Exploration Manager for Nimrod Exploration (horizontal drilling projects in South Texas, coal delivery project in Colombia)), Operations Manager for Petroleum Information Services (marketing in USA) all based out of San Antonio
